I have to admit,  there are parts to running a business that are challenging.  There are times when it is a challenge to keep everything going, to keep shouting out about the Connect4Work service, raising awareness of vocational rehabilitation and the benefits it offers to organisations and their employees.

Disability inclusion awardThen there are other times when somebody else comes along and does a bit of shouting on my behalf – and I am so grateful for it.

This shout out, by way of an Award nomination from the Diversity in Tech Awards 2022, is in recognition of the work I do to ensure that people with disabilities are included in the workplace.

It is recognition that workplaces can be inclusive, accessible and equitable for all employees.

It is recognition that much has been done but there is more to be done.

Winners will be announced on September 21 in Dublin. I am really looking forward to the event, speaking with other people and hearing what organisations are doing to ensure inclusion of people with disabilities.

It is probably considered old news by now, but I am re-reading the Healthy Ireland at Work: A National Framework for Healthy Workplaces in Ireland 2021–2025.

The vision for Healthy Ireland is where everyone can enjoy physical and mental health and wellbeing to their full potential and where wellbeing is valued and supported at every level in society.   The Framework supports workplaces to foster better mental health, work life balance and health promoting behaviours.

Have you read it yet? In case you are not familiar with it, here is the link Healthy Ireland at Work Framework

If you do read this and make changes in your workplace as a result – please do let me know.  It is always great to hear how workplaces are evolving. I am, as always, available at [email protected] if you have any questions.
